The Italian fountain in Elizabethan Gardens in the Outer Banks was a showstopper for me many years ago and is a local point of the garden. It is surrounded by crepe myrtles that they say bloom 100 days of the year. It is a different subject than my norm, but it pulled me in. I worked through the landscape portion which is not my strongest skill. Then onto the fountain and pool. With my faux finishing experience marbelizing architectural balustrades it was actually an enjoyable experience to challenge myself to paint the ones that surround the fountain and do all of the shadowing work on the fountain itself.
